The primary focus of fundraising is presence within the community, which aids the component of Advocacy. Fundraising provides both money and visibility for the youth group AND community. A great benefit of fundraising is that teens come together by working toward a common goal. And for many teens working at fund raisers helps them to become more comfortable interacting with adults, a skill which helps them secure their first job. Fundraisers provide the parish community with the opportunity to interact with and support their youth. Youth can fundraise for the ministry in general, for retreats and special events like attending the Steubenville San Diego youth conference, and for parish or community needs.
