Greetings! The Steubenville San Diego Youth Conference is around the corner July 27-29, 2012 and we’d love your generous help as a volunteer. If you’ve never attended the conference you are missing out on a wonderful experience. This summer we anticipate hosting 4,500 teens and youth leaders at Viejas Arena!

Imagine thousands of young people, our young Church, praying, worshipping, celebrating their faith in their own authentic and energetic way, learning how to live as a Catholic Christian in a secular world, supporting one another in community on their faith journey, and celebrating Holy Mass! There is joyful and engaging music, amazing speakers, the sacraments, and the energy and fellowship of teens. All of this is made possible by hundreds of adults joining together in love to support and serve these young people.

There are many ways to help at the conference including: ushering, hospitality, registration, prayer ministers, first-aid assistance, security, transportation, set-up and removal of the stage design, and bookstore assistants. We appreciate the time you can give us and ask that you be available for at least a 6 hour shift for scheduling purposes. We need volunteers around the clock and we promise you will have an amazing time.

Volunteers need to attend ONLY ONE of the scheduled meetings. Because we are going to be at a new location this year, we ask that you make certain to attend a training session (new or returning). Please meet at the University of San Diego, 5998 Alcalá Park, San Diego, CA 92110-2492 in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Map

April 28, Saturday 9:30am USD, Jenny Craig Central
June 9, Saturday 9:30am USD, Jenny Craig Central
June 23, Saturday 9:30am USD, Jenny Craig Central

When you attend a volunteer meeting please be sure to bring all your completed forms and photo ID. You will have an opportunity to schedule the volunteer times that will work best for you. Please feel free to spread the word among your Catholic ministry groups or with those who have a heart to serve our Young Church at this incredible, life-changing event for the teens. This year’s theme is “The Eighth Day” based on Isaiah 43:1 and Catechism of the Catholic Church 349, “The eighth day. But for us a new day has dawned: the day of Christ's Resurrection. The seventh day completes the first creation. The eighth day begins the new creation. Thus, the work of creation culminates in the greater work of redemption. The first creation finds its meaning and its summit in the new creation in Christ, the splendor of which surpasses that of the first creation.” As Christ reigns in our hearts, let’s join together to help our teens see that real joy is found in our Lord!

Please check back with us often for new information and updated meeting dates/locations.

Blessings,
Joy Rapp—Volunteer Coordinator, Steubenville San Diego
